Driving conditions today

2025.01.23 09:00 SaltyAdminBot Saw a craft today driving on the US-95 in the desert of Nevada
Time: 22nd of Jan 2025, 3pm
Location: On the US-95 in Nevada
I'm on holiday in the US from Australia, was driving from Vegas to Reno today.
About an hour past Area 51 (which I didn't realise we'd be near today lmao) I saw an oblong white object traveling at a high altitude. It moved across the sky at a high speed and then disappeared.
I got my wife to screenshot maps where we were when I saw it. It was here -
https://preview.redd.it/qyp3k2m4noee1.png?width=562&format=png&auto=webp&s=48907abbd061616e2067b1e85159dc8b80334987 https://preview.redd.it/j7m2olc6noee1.png?width=558&format=png&auto=webp&s=82cb9338896576ed1741822858c595de93f43ac2 Unfortunately I didn't get footage of the object itself because I was driving and my wife couldn't find it in the sky despite my attempt to verbally point out where it was.
I first spotted it because I was looking at the remnants of an old jet trail, it traveled the whole length of the jet trail (which was quite long) in about 20 seconds, then disappeared.
I'm an aviation geek and on this same drive I saw commercial jetliners, fighter jets and small planes - but this thing was completely different. Firstly I just know what planes look like and how they move, this was way faster, left no trail and was somewhat spherical - plus it just literally disappeared, it was there one second then gone the next.
I'll admit, I've always wanted to see a UFO/UAP and have been following the tic-tac news, but I'm not super into it and tbh think 99% of it is bs and peddled by grifters. This wasn't a super interesting or earth shattering sighting, but I saw what I saw and it was exactly what thousands of others have described.

2025.01.23 09:25 webcurry Top 10 Benefits of Desi : TheGhee Superfood for Healthy Lifestyle
Since the ages, of course,
desi ghee has been the golden treasure for kitchens in Indian subcontinents-a health-boosting superfood, from Ayurvedic practices of bygone eras to now recognized as the nutrient-rich food of the hour. Clarified butter, this culinary gem is more than just a cooking ingredient; it is a powerhouse of all those essential nutrients within.
Let's dive into the marvels of
desi ghee and find out why it should find a prominent place in your diet on an everyday basis.
What Is Desi Ghee? Desi ghee is a form of clarified butter that involves simmering butter, skimming off the impurities, and separating the milk solids. The end result is a pure, golden liquid fat that is lactose-free and rich in nutrients.
Brief History and Traditional Significance Cultural Heritage: For over two thousand years,
Desi ghee has been a staple in Indian households. It was considered not only a food but also a sacred item in rituals and Ayurvedic medicine.
Ayurvedic Significance: Ayurveda refers to ghee as an enhancer of "ojas", which is believed to enhance vitality, digestion, and overall well-being.
Traditional Uses: Ghee is an indispensable part of Indian culture, being used to make festive fare, light lamps in ceremonies, and serve as a medicinal formulation.
Top 10 Health Benefits of Desi Ghee - Enhances Digestion
Desi ghee contains butyric acid, the short-chain fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory properties. The cells lining the intestine get a nutrition and digestion-boosting benefit, which makes it a savior for constipation and bloating.
- Boosts Immunity
Rich in antioxidants and vitamin A and other nutrients, desi ghee boosts up the immunity system. Their regular usage improves the body's ability to fight infections and recover faster from the diseases.
- Improves Cardiovascular Health
Ghee has proved to boost healthy HDL levels if used in moderate quantity. Additionally, it contains omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation and help in cardiovascular health.
- Improves Skin Glow
Desi ghee moisturizes naturally from within the skin. It aids hydration in dry skin and reduces wrinkles, leading to healthy glow in your skin. Apply it direct or take it regularly for glowing skin.
- Benefits of Bone Health
Being rich in vitamin K2, desi ghee is helpful in calcium absorption. This will help build strong bones and will not let develop conditions like osteoporosis.
- Wonderful for Weight Management
Not true, though-many claim that ghee promotes weight gain. A conscious intake of ghee would certainly not promote weight loss but rather increase the essential fat metabolism, reducing the improper deposits of fat.
- Supports Brain's Cognitive Function
Ghee contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are important for good health to have an improved memory, concentration, and brain functioning.
- Helps Hair End
This organic ghee does wonders for hair health. Its rich fatty acid composition strengthens the follicles, prevents dryness, and gives the hair shine. It can be taken orally as a supplement or applied topically as a hair mask.
- Detoxifies
Desi ghee aids in the liver functions and helps flush away toxins from the human body. It is often utilized in an Ayurvedic detoxification therapy, which is called Panchakarma.
- Gives Instant Energy
A fast source of energy, ghee is well suited for athletes and high-energy users. Its medium-chain fatty acids are readily absorbed and used as fuel by the body.
How to Use Desi Ghee in Your Daily Life - Cooking Tips
Use it for High Heat Cooking: Since it has a high smoke point, desi ghee is great for frying, sautéing, or roasting.
Enhance Flavours: Add a dollop to the rice or lentils, or soups for a rich, nutty flavor.
Preparing Traditional Recipes: Use ghee while making desserts like halwa or laddoos for authentic flavor.
- Beauty and Health Remedies
Skin- Apply warm ghee on dry patches or chapped lips for instant relief.
Hair- Massage it into your scalp and hair for 30 minutes and wash for nice, shiny locks.
For Digestion: Mix a teaspoon of ghee in warm milk to relieve constipation.
Desi ghee is a timeless superfood that seamlessly blends taste and nutrition. Its incredible health benefits, combined with its versatility in cooking and home remedies, make it a must-have in your daily routine. Whether you’re looking to enhance your immunity, improve digestion, or simply enjoy a flavorful meal, desi ghee is the perfect choice.

2025.01.23 09:07 Big_Forever_2450 The up selling is pissing me off!
I’m in the drive through today to get some lunch during work. Between every item I order why are they asking if I want to add extra meat, guac, sour cream, etc. After getting that list of questions when I ordered a taco I then quickly said “okay and then I want a bean and cheese burrito and Baja blast and that’s it” to see if maybe a hint would be taken and I was still asked about adding extra stuff to my burrito. What pisses me off too is the price of the add-ons. When I get a breakfast Crunchwrap I always ask to replace the creamy jalapeño sauce for spicy ranch and I’m always charged .75¢ to do that. I’m not even adding anything extra?! Idk I’m really unimpressed with the insane greed.

| https://preview.redd.it/kyd1ei3nuoee1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36d8db7dd81a075ad237dbf83a59f1ed474eb495 The winter season comes with its own perks and added hazards, but it is important to keep the kids at daycare centres safe and healthy. Children up to the age of 5 require special attention and extra care in the winter weather. Most importantly, childcare centres must use proper safety measures to care for kids. How to Keep Kids Healthy in Winters in Daycare Facility? 1. Maintaining the Routine By balancing the cyclical patterns for meals and playtime, small kids stay in sync with the changing weather conditions. They can assimilate properly with the weather while getting optimal nourishment. 2. Staying Updated with Vaccines The caregivers and teachers at daycare must focus on the hygiene of the kids. They must encourage them to wash their hands with soap regularly, especially after meals and playing games. The parents must get their kids vaccinated for flu and other diseases before the onset of winter. 3. Humidifying the Air Not only the parents but the caregivers at the centres must use humidifiers to decrease the chances of infection. Most viruses and bacteria thrive in humid air, so it is necessary to have this equipment. It will make the inside air warm and replace the moisture in the air. 4. Keep the Kids Hydrated Adults fully understand the importance of hydration. But kids are unaware of how and when to hydrate themselves. It is the responsibility of the teachers at the daycare centres to teach children to drink water regularly and keep themselves hydrated. The caregivers must set up time for small kids to drink water so that they get enough hydration during the winter season. 5. Boost their Immunity Small kids can be saved from the harsh winters by strengthening their immunity. You must give small kids nutritious food and juices, which will help them beat the cold season. Giving the kids oranges and apples will help them fight flu season and cold weather in a better way. 6. Check Out the Winterwear of Kids Make sure that the kids visiting your daycare centre wear a good layer of clothes. They must wear insulated boots, gloves, hats, and mittens. It will keep them warm and save them from hypothermia. Conclusion The winter season can be harsh for small kids and toddlers. So, it is important for daycare centres to follow health tips and keep their students safe. 2025.01.23 08:58 Worried_Fig00 Looking for part 2 of the birth control conversation: What kind of birth control are with taking if we DO have auras?
Funnily enough, I was asking my self a similar question earlier today that the other BC poster asked. What kind of birth control are we taking if we DO have auras and other stroke risks? I'm kind of a really odd ball medical case, and my pcp is urging me to go to the obgyn to treat my PCOS because she is unsure of how to manage it safely at this point with all of my other issues. I want to go into the appointment with some good knowledge so I can make an informed decision on the treatment plan.
For reference: I developed a 2 week long migraine around 6 months ago and the only thing that made the pain stop was Qulipta but it didn't adress the continuous aura and tinnitus that I still have today. My Dr immediately advised me that she does not want me to take estrogen based birth control due arteries and veins in my brain being more narrow due to a congenital condition. (Also where all of my migraines are located)
I also can't have anything like an IUD or the ring due to another condition I have. I know the best answer is just wait until you speak with the obgyn, but I want to know what my options are because at this point it feels like there are none and I want to make sure my Dr is giving me good info.I haven't had a cycle in a year at this point, I really need to get it back in control. Sorry for the long post, and thank you.

2025.01.23 09:04 Interesting_You3224 How long does lingering burnt smell take to leave microwave?
We had a heatable rice bag get too heated in the microwave (google that for a lot of horror stories). One crease in the bag burned through the fabric and the kernals were charred black -- however, no flames on the bag. Disposed of the bag safely, did the "steam vinegar mix/lemon mix" trick like 10x and scrubbed the crap out of it.
The microwave itself is now super clean. However, it still stinks like cigarettes. Today we put in a box of baking soda and two bowls of coffee grounds to try to absorb the smell. Also some paper towels lightly soaked in vinegar mixture lining the inside. I'm just letting it sit like this for a bit but wanted to see if there's anything else we can do to speed it up.
Also will it be better to leave the door open to ventilate the air? My wife has a medical condition which can flare up when triggered by harsh smells, so we have been avoiding this.

2025.01.23 09:29 Nick_Haoyuan_WANG AMBOSS or UWorld? (opinion from an examiner scoring 273 in step2CK)
Hi FAM! I got the result today. Pretty surprised to get a 273 (for reference, my predicted score in AMBOSS predictor is 269). I have finished every single question on AMBOSS and UWorld, so I might have a good understanding of these two Qbanks. In this article, I wanna compare AMBOSS vs UWorld and explain why UWorld is still the top 1 choice during Step2 preparation.
UWorld
Advantages
- High-yield content coverage:
UW questions are closely aligned with the actual exam, focusing on high-yield topics that are essential for Step preparation.
- Concise and logical explanations:
UW’s explanations are straightforward, logical, and free of unnecessary details. It can nevigate you through all logical process you need to think about in this clinical scenario, helpful for training clinical reasoning and developing a focused test-taking strategy.
- High-quality tables and flowcharts:
The tables and flowcharts in UW explanations are clearer and more exam-focused compared to AMBOSS, making them an excellent resource for quick revisions and understanding key concepts.
- Excellent training on differential diagnosis.
In my opinion, differential diagnosis is the No.1 most important ability in step2CK. UW does a wonderful job to train this ability by highlighting the most important positive and negative findings of each differential diagnosis. This is gold. Since sometimes if you ignore those positive findings that should be there or negative findings that should not be there, you'll make the wrong diagnosis easily. AMBOSS unfortunately, fails to train this ability well.
Disadvantages
- Limited comprehensive knowledge:
While UW is exceptional for exam preparation, its explanations focus more on test-taking and less on providing a broader understanding of diseases. For a deep dive into conditions, additional resources like the AMBOSS library are still necessary.
- Less focus on edge cases:
UW questions are more standard and less tricky, which can make it less effective for building resilience against highly challenging or unconventional exam questions compared to AMBOSS.
vs AMBOSS
Advantages
- Comprehensive and user-friendly knowledge base:
AMBOSS’s knowledge base allows you to quickly locate relevant information, making it a good reference tool during practice.
- Challenging question bank:
AMBOSS includes trickier, less straightforward questions that may help train you to approach challenging scenarios and manage exam stress more effectively. But honestly, the real exam is a lot easier than AMBOSS Qbank.
- Very high quality content on ethics and QI
Ethics and quality improvement are gold of AMBOSS. You cannot miss those articles and questions.
Disadvantages
- Explanations less clear:
Compared to UW, AMBOSS explanations are often less detailed but sometimes lack the concise focus that is useful for rapid review.
- Tendency to overthink:
Because AMBOSS Qbank is so tricky, it is very likely that you develop overthinking problems after finishing this Qbank, especially this is your first Qbank. This could damage you exam in some way if not corrected.
Overall Recommendation
• If your goal is exam-focused preparation: UWorld remains irreplaceable due to its high-yield questions, precise explanations, and alignment with Step exams.
• AMBOSS’s library is a good companion for filling in gaps and diving deeper into complex topics.
• For a balanced approach: Use UW as your primary Qbank and supplement it with AMBOSS for knowledge expansion and weakness training for more challenging scenarios. With a strong UW’s knowledge base, you won't even need AMBOSS Qbank (besides ethics and quality improvement).
